Built for HIPAA Compliance. Secure by Design.

RadPal is built with healthcare data security at its core. Your data is protected at every step.

BAA Coverage

Signed Business Associate Agreement with our AI infrastructure provider, including zero-retention terms.

Zero Data Retention

Your text is processed in real time by our AI provider and is not retained or used to train their models.

Encrypted in Transit and at Rest

All data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Nothing leaves your machine unprotected.

No PHI Storage

RadPal is designed to operate on findings text only — patient identifiers don't enter our system. The clinical content we do store (templates, history) is not regulated PHI.

What is RadPal?

RadPal is an AI-powered desktop application that helps radiologists generate structured reports and final impressions from dictated findings. Created by a practicing radiologist, it is designed to reduce cognitive load during high-volume reading sessions while maintaining full physician oversight of all generated content.

RadPal integrates with existing dictation software such as PowerScribe 360 and Fluency. Radiologists dictate their findings as usual, and RadPal uses AI to produce a formatted report or impression following customizable templates. It also features a wake-word system for hands-free voice command activation.

Key capabilities include AI impression generation, full structured report generation, customizable templates for any exam type or modality, an ACR Appropriateness Criteria wizard, and exam timing with performance statistics.

RadPal is built for HIPAA compliance. All data is encrypted end-to-end, no patient data or report content is stored on RadPal servers, and AI processing uses zero-data-retention agreements with all sub-processors. It runs as a standalone Windows desktop application that does not require administrator privileges, IT approval, or hospital system integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about RadPal, pricing, security, and how it fits into your workflow.

How does RadPal generate radiology reports?
Radiologists dictate their positive and negative findings using their existing dictation software (such as PowerScribe or Fluency). RadPal captures this free-text dictation and uses AI to generate a structured report or impression following customizable templates. All generated content must be reviewed and approved by the radiologist before use in patient care.
Is RadPal HIPAA compliant?
RadPal is designed to support HIPAA-compliant workflows by minimizing what enters our system in the first place. The app operates only on the radiologist's findings text — not on patient demographics, the report header, or anything from your PACS, RIS, or EHR. Before any text is sent for processing, RadPal also automatically scrubs ages 90 and over (per HIPAA Safe Harbor) and patterns that look like medical record numbers, account numbers, accession numbers, or device serials. All traffic is encrypted with TLS 1.2+, our AI infrastructure provider operates under our signed Business Associate Agreement with zero-retention terms, and your text is never used to train models. RadPal is not a Covered Entity, and there is no such thing as 'HIPAA certification' — you remain responsible for ensuring use complies with your institution's policies.
How does RadPal interact with my dictation software, PACS, or EHR?
RadPal interacts only with the active dictation window — it reads the radiologist's typed or dictated text and writes the AI-generated output back into that same field using standard Windows accessibility APIs. It does not integrate with PACS, RIS, or EHRs, does not access patient demographics or exam metadata, does not capture screenshots, and does not bridge data between clinical systems. This minimal interaction model is intentional: by limiting what RadPal touches, we limit what could be misused or affect downstream workflows.
What dictation software does RadPal work with?
RadPal integrates with PowerScribe 360, Fluency by Nuance, and other dictation platforms. It also features an always-listening wake-word system for hands-free voice command activation — trigger report generation, insert reports, and switch templates without touching the keyboard.
How much does RadPal cost?
RadPal offers a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. After the trial, the Impression plan costs $89/month ($890/year) for AI impression generation, and the Pro plan costs $149/month ($1,490/year) for both full report and impression generation. Both plans include unlimited usage, wake-word commands, custom templates, and the ACR guidelines wizard.
Does RadPal require admin rights or IT approval?
For individual users, no. RadPal is a standalone Windows desktop application that installs in your local app directory and does not require administrator privileges or PACS/RIS integration — you can download it and start using it in minutes. For institutional deployments at hospitals or large practices, your IT team will typically want to allowlist a few outbound domains in their firewall as part of standard vendor onboarding; we provide the list on request.
What is the difference between impression generation and full report generation?
Impression generation creates only the final impression or conclusion section of a radiology report from your dictated findings. Full report generation creates a complete structured report with all standard sections (technique, comparison, findings, impression) organized by your template. The Impression plan includes impression-only generation, while the Pro plan includes both.
Can I customize how reports are generated?
Yes. RadPal supports customizable templates for different exam types, modalities, and body parts. You can create and edit templates to match your preferred report structure and formatting.
Is RadPal a medical device?
No. RadPal is a productivity tool designed to assist radiologists with report drafting. It is not FDA-cleared or approved, does not provide clinical diagnoses, and does not replace professional medical judgment. All AI-generated content must be reviewed and approved by a qualified physician.
